coastal serenity series
The "Coastal Serenity Series" includes works utilizing oil and alkyd mediums. The objective of this series is to capture the serenity and quietness of the Delmarva marshes, coastline and wildlife. Unlike the hard edged acrylic art of the Coastal Impressions Series, this series seeks to leverage the soft blending characteristics of traditional oil mediums to produce soothing and serene imagery.
Andromedas She Shed
Alkyd and Oil on Canvas 30" Tall x 24" Wide
I was initially attracted to the perfect color synergy between the out of place pink shed and the dark evergreens in the background. I immediately thought of the term "She Shed" due to its magenta coloring. The sky was full of stars. It called to mind a story I had heard of regarding the Greek myth of Andromeda. In Greek mythology, Andromeda, daughter of Cassiopeia, was chained to a rock to be eaten by the sea monster Cetus. The Andromeda constellation is most prominent during autumn evenings in the Northern Hemisphere, along with several other constellations named for characters in the Perseus myth.
